Kyle Richards breaks down over Mauricio's anniversary text

Kyle Richards, a 56-year-old reality television star known for her role on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, became visibly emotional while discussing a private message she received from her estranged husband, Mauricio Umansky, also 56, on their 30th wedding anniversary, which fell on January 20. In a clip shared with her co-star Vicki Gunvalson, Richards was seen wiping away tears and admitted, "I'm just having a moment." She then revealed that Umansky had sent her a text that deeply affected her, saying, "He sent me a text and it just sent me off. He said I don't know how we got here. I really had thought that." The couple had announced their separation three years prior, and this anniversary message brought back a wave of emotion for Richards.

Gunvalson, who herself divorced Donn Gunvalson in 2010, expressed sympathy for Richards in a confessional interview, noting that Richards and Umansky appeared to have everything people desire, and that after 30 years of marriage, their relationship was suddenly dissolving. Richards also reflected on the public's reaction to their breakup, saying that the most painful part was people telling her that their marriage gave them hope that true love existed. She acknowledged that their separation might have shattered that hope for others, but she understood why people felt that way.

During this vulnerable moment, Richards spoke to her longtime friend about the weight of family expectations, saying, "You let your family down. You're showing them it's okay to bail out when things get tough. It's not okay. You're supposed to grow old together, you're supposed to do life together, [have] grandkids." Richards and Umansky share four daughters: Farrah, 37, Alexia, 30, Sophia, 26, and Portia, 18. Since their separation, Umansky has been linked to several women, including models Klaudia K and Nikita Kahn, both in their mid-30s. In a November interview with People, Umansky shared advice his daughters gave him about dating, saying they told him, "We want you to enjoy yourself, but be age-appropriate." Despite their estrangement, Richards and Umansky reunited at their daughter Portia's high school graduation in June, showing that they can still come together for family milestones.
