Hero shopper tackles attacker during supermarket assault

Kevin Price, a 42-year-old father of three, was shopping when he heard the commotion. Without hesitation, he intervened and tackled Fincher to the ground, preventing further harm. Price described the incident as happening quickly, lasting less than a minute. He noted that he was a fan of the Brisbane Broncos and joked about expecting a call-up from the team’s coach due to his tackle.

Emergency services arrived shortly after, and both the teenage employee and the elderly man were taken to the Royal Brisbane Hospital in stable condition. Fincher was subsequently arrested and charged with acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm, two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm, and serious assault of a person over 60. He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on September 14.
