Poll: Nearly half of Britons would not fight for UK in any circumstances

A new Ipsos poll in the UK found that 48% of Britons would not fight for their country under any circumstances, while 36% would. The survey, conducted in late September and early October, also showed majority support for increased defence spending, even if it means higher taxes or cuts to public services. Army chief Sir Roly Walker warned that Britons must make sacrifices to prepare for war, as the government faces a £5bn gap in defence spending and plans to increase it to 3% of GDP by 2030.
