ClassCover creates 20 new jobs with €3m investment in Ireland

Ireland is set to welcome the Australian substitute teacher booking platform ClassCover, which is expanding into the Irish market following a significant investment of €3 million. This expansion is expected to generate 20 new jobs over the next three years, with recruitment focusing on areas such as sales, marketing, partnerships, and customer support. The platform aims to onboard approximately 2,000 schools, which would represent nearly half of the total schools in Ireland. The official launch is scheduled for late August, with a pilot program taking place in Dublin.

ClassCover, established in 2011 and headquartered in Sydney, has developed a real-time booking platform that allows school principals to efficiently book substitute teachers and Special Needs Assistants (SNAs). This initiative is particularly timely, as there is a growing demand in Ireland for a more streamlined substitute teacher booking system. Currently, many schools rely on outdated methods such as manual phone calls or social media messaging apps to secure cover, which can lead to inefficiencies and risks.

The decision to expand into Ireland comes after extensive research and discussions with Irish educators, who have shared insights into the challenges faced in finding substitute teachers. Ben Grozier, the CEO and co-founder of ClassCover, emphasized the importance of this expansion, noting the historical bond between Ireland and Australia. He acknowledged that while the platform alone cannot resolve the teacher supply crisis, it will significantly improve the process of connecting available substitutes with schools in need.

As ClassCover prepares for its launch, the company is optimistic about its potential impact on the Irish education system. The pilot program has been tailored specifically for the Irish market, ensuring that it meets the unique needs of local schools. With the goal of onboarding a substantial number of schools, ClassCover is poised to make a meaningful contribution to addressing the challenges of teacher shortages in Ireland.
