Kent revealed that the day her embryos arrived in Brisbane for her IVF treatment was also the day she learned her father had been moved to palliative care. This coincidence struck her as a cruel twist of fate, leading her to express anger and a sense of being overwhelmed. 'I'm familiar with the universe having a wicked sense of humour,' she said. 'But in that moment, I [thought], "That's a bit gross." There's worse out there for sure, but it felt like my whole world had been stomped on. I'm really angry.'

In addition to her grief, Kent has been navigating the complex and often frustrating process of seeking help for her younger brother, who has been struggling with his own issues. She described the difficulty of finding adequate support, noting that despite investing significant money and time, she was initially turned away. 'You put all of this money into getting support, and you're turned away,' she said. 'This took me six months. He's finally receiving help, thank God. Thank my dad, maybe. I don't know. I don't know who to thank.'

Despite the overwhelming challenges, Kent remains resolute in her determination to become a mother. She continues to pursue IVF treatment, hoping that her body will be able to carry a child. 'I obviously pray that my body can carry a child. My family and I deserve a little breather from hospitals for a minute... unless it's to do with bringing in a baby,' she said. Her story highlights the resilience of the human spirit in the face of unimaginable loss and the importance of perseverance in the pursuit of one's dreams.
