Disney announces Avengers Infinity Defense ride for 2028

At the D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, held at the Anaheim Convention Center through Sunday, Walt Disney Imagineering's Brent Strong and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige confirmed that a new Marvel-inspired ride, Avengers Infinity Defense, will open in 2028 at Disneyland Resort's California Adventure park. The announcement was part of the Horizons: Disney Experiences Showcase on Saturday. The ride is an E-ticket dark ride, meaning it is an indoor attraction using the latest technology, and is part of an expansion of the Avengers Campus section at California Adventure. The expansion will double the size of Avengers Campus and add a second ride, Stark Flight Lab. Avengers Infinity Defense will feature the return of Thanos, the main antagonist of Marvel's Infinity Saga, in a version called King Thanos, from a reality where he triumphed over the heroes. Guests will be welcomed as recruits by Ms. Marvel, played by Iman Vellani, and will reassemble the Avengers to battle King Thanos across multiple worlds. The ride will mix massive physical sets with huge media scenes, taking guests to iconic locations like Asgard, Wakanda, and New York City. Reprising their MCU roles are Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Anthony Mackie as Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, and previously announced Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man. Stark Flight Lab will include Brie Larson as Captain Marvel, Mackie as Captain America, and Downey as Iron Man, acting as flight instructors. Additionally, at Hong Kong Disneyland, the Avengers Research Testing Labs will open at the Marvel area under construction, featuring Spider-Man. At Shanghai Disneyland, Spider-Man is getting his own dedicated land, and the final piece of the track for the area's roller coaster has been installed.
