Hunter House relocates after 75 years in Birmingham

In the United States, specifically in Metro Detroit, a well-known restaurant, Hunter House, is undergoing a significant transformation. Co-owner Kelly Cobb emphasizes the importance of maintaining the restaurant's original look and feel, stating that they want customers to feel as if they are in a familiar space despite the change in location.

The new restaurant will be approximately three times larger than the original, although much of the additional space will be utilized for behind-the-scenes operations. The design will closely mimic the original, featuring white metal panels, stainless steel trim, and the same style of stools. The original grill will also be moved to the new site, ensuring that the culinary experience remains consistent for loyal patrons. This commitment to preserving the restaurant's identity is a key aspect of the project, as Cobb aims for customers to see the memories they have created over the years reflected in the new space.

Construction is being handled by Frank Rewold & Sons, a family-owned business with a long history in the area. Vice President Sean Rewold notes that this project is unique because they are intentionally creating a new space that looks aged, which is contrary to their usual practice of delivering pristine finishes. This approach allows them to add character to the new restaurant, making it feel like a continuation of the original rather than a completely new establishment.

As construction progresses, the team is focused on completing the project by fall. The anticipation surrounding the opening of the new Hunter House is palpable, with both the owners and the builders expressing excitement about the opportunity to honor the restaurant's legacy while providing a fresh experience for customers.
