Nigeria calls up Taiwo Awoniyi to replace injured Victor Osimhen for AFCON 2027 qualifiers

Nigeria's Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle has called up Coventry City striker Taiwo Awoniyi to replace injured Victor Osimhen for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. Osimhen, who plays for Galatasaray, was ruled out due to a right adductor muscle strain. Nigeria will host Madagascar on September 25 in Uyo and travel to face Guinea-Bissau on September 29. Awoniyi recently joined Coventry City from Nottingham Forest in a reported £9 million deal. The Nigeria Football Federation announced the change on the official Super Eagles X account.
