Elfyn Evans trails title rivals after first full day of World Rally Championship finale in Sardinia, Italy

In Sardinia, Italy, the World Rally Championship season-ending rally began with Elfyn Evans, the championship leader, trailing his rivals after the first full day. Thierry Neuville of Hyundai took the overnight lead, finishing just ahead of teammate Adrien Fourmaux. Oliver Solberg was the fastest title contender in third, with Sami Pajari fourth. Evans was sixth, over a minute behind. With 35 points available, Evans leads Pajari by 17 and Solberg by 21. The rally continues with six stages on Saturday and four on Sunday.
