Jamaica seeks reparations from UK for slavery compensation

In a significant move, Jamaica's Minister Olivia Grange has questioned why Jamaica should not seek reparations from Britain for slavery, given that the UK was still paying off debts related to slave-owner compensation until 2015. A Jamaican delegation has traveled to London to file a petition asking King Charles to refer legal questions about the legality of slavery in Jamaica to the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council. Additionally, the delegation will discuss the repatriation of cultural artifacts with the British Museum.
