The U.S. Federal Register website, run by the National Archives, briefly used an AI search tool powered by Alibaba's Qwen model. The tool was available on Wednesday and removed the same day after social media attention. The FBI had recently accused Alibaba of copying Anthropic's technology. Lawmakers and experts questioned the government's use of a Chinese AI model, though some noted the public nature of the data reduced immediate risks.
