Denmark summons Russian ambassador over flare incident

On Monday, a Russian frigate fired two flares toward a Danish military helicopter in international waters off Denmark, narrowly missing the aircraft. The helicopter was on a routine mission to photograph the frigate. Denmark's Foreign Minister called the incident unacceptable and summoned Russia's ambassador. Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen described it as part of Russia's hybrid campaign against NATO. The Russian embassy has not yet responded. The incident occurred in the Danish straits, a vital shipping route.
