In Arizona, the investigation into the kidnapping of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie is nearing the six-month mark. The Pima County Sheriff, Chris Nanos, announced that a hair sample retrieved from Guthrie's home did not produce a DNA profile of a potential suspect. This setback was revealed during a press briefing, where Nanos explained that the hair sample was sent to a California laboratory for analysis, but the results came back empty. The sheriff emphasized that while the absence of DNA does not confirm the hair is not from the suspect, further analysis is ongoing. Investigators are collaborating with the FBI and multiple crime labs to examine other evidence collected from the scene, as well as utilizing genetic genealogy research to generate leads. Sheriff Nanos expressed optimism about resolving the case, stating that any DNA evidence could be crucial in identifying the suspect. Meanwhile, Savannah Guthrie, Nancy's daughter and co-host of the 'Today' show, made a heartfelt appeal to the kidnappers, urging them to do the right thing as her family continues to endure a painful ordeal. No arrests have been made since Nancy was abducted from her home in Tucson on February 1.
