India's Supreme Court asks government for update on NEET exam reform panel's progress

On Friday, the Centre told the Supreme Court of India that the Nandan Nilekani-led panel on NEET reforms has completed consultations and will submit its first interim report by the end of September. The court directed the DoPT joint secretary to file an affidavit on steps taken. The bench emphasized the need for a permanent institutional framework for NEET, with permanent staff and verticals. The court also plans to visit the upgraded NTA facility. This follows the August 19 direction to implement recommendations from the Radhakrishnan panel and Nilekani committee.
