Peruvian forces clash with FARC dissident group Comandos de la Frontera near Colombia border

Peruvian military and police forces clashed with members of the Comandos de la Frontera, a dissident group from the demobilized FARC guerrilla, in a small populated center in the Putumayo region near the border with Colombia. The firefight forced the criminals to flee, with three falling into the Yaricaya River. Authorities seized weapons and ammunition. The operation, named "Zancudo," aimed to secure the border area. This incident follows the extradition of a captured group leader to the United States and recent security cooperation talks between Peru and Colombia.
