Actor Glen Powell says he avoids politics because it divides people

In an interview with Esquire published in early October 2026, actor Glen Powell explained why he avoids discussing politics. He said political discourse is not as healthy as it once was and that it divides people. Powell, known for Top Gun: Maverick, said he was raised in a home where current affairs were not discussed. He also commented on media controversies, saying he does not engage with false narratives because it only feeds the beast. Powell previously defended his co-star Sydney Sweeney after her American Eagle ad campaign sparked criticism.
