Myanmar deports U.S. businessman Adam Castillo after three months in jail

Myanmar's military-backed government deported U.S. businessman Adam Castillo on Thursday after he spent three months in jail. Castillo, a former Marine and owner of AGS Myanmar, was arrested at Yangon International Airport in June following accusations by AmCham Myanmar of financial impropriety. He was flown to Bangkok, Thailand, and will return to the U.S. His release was confirmed by Global Reach, a nonprofit that helped his family. The charges against him remain unclear, and it is unknown if he was ever tried. His sister expressed mixed feelings, noting his hopes for better U.S.-Myanmar relations.
