Dutch midfielder Tijjani Reijnders leaves Manchester City for Saudi club Al Qadsiah after one season

Dutch midfielder Tijjani Reijnders left Manchester City in the summer of 2026 to join Saudi Pro League club Al Qadsiah. He cited dissatisfaction with his tactical role at City and the lucrative financial package as reasons. Reijnders, who preferred a dynamic midfield role, was often deployed as an attacking midfielder. He signed a four-year contract reportedly worth 100 million euros. He said he was initially concerned about the move but was convinced by Al Qadsiah coach Brendan Rodgers that he could return to Europe after a few years. He also rated the Saudi league higher than the Dutch Eredivisie.
