Israeli airstrike kills Hamas commander Izz al-Din Al-Beik in Gaza City

On Tuesday, an Israeli airstrike killed Izz al-Din Al-Beik, the head of Hamas' armed wing in the northern Gaza Strip, in Gaza City's Nasr neighborhood. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defence Minister Israel Katz confirmed the strike, saying Beik was involved in planning attacks and recruiting militants. Hamas confirmed his death, and another person died from wounds. This killing is part of Israel's stepped-up strikes on Hamas, which it accuses of violating an October ceasefire. At least 1,400 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza since the ceasefire, while four Israeli soldiers have died.
