Anthropic and Accenture invest $2 billion to embed independent safety evaluators inside AI lab
On September 18, 2026, Anthropic, an AI company, announced a partnership with Accenture to embed independent evaluators inside its operations. Each company will invest at least $1 billion over five years. The evaluators, led by Accenture's Faculty, will red-team Anthropic's models to test safety. This follows CEO Dario Amodei's call for slower AI development and greater independent access. OpenAI also announced similar reporting. More than 100 researchers, including Geoffrey Hinton, signed a letter demanding evaluator independence. Anthropic will fund the work initially but hopes for government or pooled funding in the future.
