Matthew Macfadyen to play George Smiley in BBC's Legacy Of Spies series

The BBC has released first-look images of Matthew Macfadyen as George Smiley in the upcoming eight-part drama Legacy Of Spies, adapted from John le Carré's novels. The series, set in 1960s Berlin, follows intelligence officer Alec Leamas, played by Charlie Hunnam, on a mission to trap an East German official. Macfadyen stars alongside Hugh Laurie, Charlotte Ritchie, and Daniel Brühl. Filming recently wrapped, and the series will premiere on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, though a release date has not been announced.
