India's BJP assigns state election responsibilities to Smriti Irani and Ram Madhav

On September 23, 2026, India's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) announced new in-charges for all states and union territories. Smriti Irani was assigned Haryana and Chhattisgarh, while Ram Madhav was given Tamil Nadu. The party also reshuffled its communication department, elevating Anil Baluni to coordinator and Ashish Usha Agrawal to convenor of the national media department. Other appointments included Vinay Sahasrabuddhe for Delhi and Vinod Tawde for Uttar Pradesh. These changes aim to strengthen the party's organizational structure ahead of upcoming elections.
