Honda partners with Tata Technologies to cut India car costs by 20% and halve development time
Honda Motor, facing declining market share and financial losses in India, has partnered with Tata Technologies to develop vehicles for the Indian market. The collaboration aims to reduce costs by up to 20% and halve development times from about five years. This decision follows internal disagreements between Japanese and Indian managers over supplier selection. The first vehicle, a small SUV under four meters, is targeted for launch in 2028. Honda's market share in India has dropped to 1.3% from a peak of 7.3% over a decade ago. The company is also cutting over $9 billion in costs globally.
