Disney's Avengers: Endgame re-release surpasses Avatar to become highest-grossing film of all time

Disney and Marvel Studios' Avengers: Endgame has reclaimed the title of the highest-grossing film of all time, overtaking Avatar with a worldwide gross of $2.9255 billion. The re-release, titled Avengers: Endgame Encore, earned $126 million globally over two weekends, closing the gap that had separated the two films. The re-release was designed to build anticipation for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, scheduled for release in December. Endgame had first surpassed Avatar in 2019 but lost the record in 2021 after Avatar's re-release in China.
