Mexico's economy grew 1.42 percent in the second quarter of 2026, according to the OECD, making it the second-fastest growing G20 economy after India. This marked a recovery from a 0.34 percent contraction in the first quarter. President Claudia Sheinbaum said the economy would perform even better in the following quarters. Mexico also outperformed the United States, which grew 0.37 percent, and exceeded the G20 average of 0.70 percent. Within the OECD, Mexico ranked seventh among 37 countries with available data.
