Anthropic halts AI misuse for biological weapons development

In the United States, Anthropic has reported blocking several attempts by bad actors to use its AI models for research that could lead to biological weapons development. The company identified misuse cases over the past eight months, including projects aimed at enhancing the virulence of pathogens like chikungunya and bird flu. In response, Anthropic has implemented stronger safeguards in its newer AI models to prevent such misuse and has called for greater regulation of AI technologies.
