CIA warns Russia may attack Spain, France, or Italy with sea-launched drones

US intelligence, including the CIA, has warned several European governments that Russia may be preparing drone attacks against targets in Spain, France, or Italy. The warning, first reported by Spanish newspaper El Mundo, cites a CIA Director John Ratcliffe visit to Moscow in late August. Lithuanian defense sources say Russia could use Gerbera drones launched from merchant ships to strike critical infrastructure. The drones can fly up to 600 kilometers. The warning follows a series of Russian hybrid attacks in Europe, including an attempted drone attack at Leipzig airport in Germany. Russia denies such plots.
