This funding round was led by Redstart Labs and 360 ONE, with contributions from various investors, including notable figures such as Kunal Shah, Harshil Mathur, and Shashank Kumar. Aina, which was previously known as Project Mirage, was founded by Apoorv Shankar, who previously served as the VP of Hardware at Ultrahuman. Shankar's departure from Ultrahuman was driven by his curiosity about the emerging field of AI interfaces, which he found to be an exciting area for innovation. Aina's first product, Dune, is a three-key, context-aware macro keyboard designed to enhance user interaction during meetings by controlling the microphone and camera, as well as executing shortcuts based on the application in use. The company has also developed two additional devices: Radiance, a remote for video calls, and Shift, a button that triggers AI agents for repetitive tasks. During early testing, Dune emerged as the most popular device, prompting Aina to consider integrating features from the other two devices into it. Shankar emphasized that the next product will not be a passive device that merely captures context, but rather an action-oriented tool that helps users control and trigger workflows. This approach reflects a broader trend in the tech industry, where various companies are exploring different forms of hardware to interact with AI, including smart glasses, wearables, and other innovative devices.
