Ghana's President Mahama forms task force to stop drug trafficking through its ports and borders

President John Dramani Mahama of Ghana has directed the formation of an inter-agency task force to develop a comprehensive plan to prevent narcotic drug trafficking through the country's borders. This follows an urgent meeting with security chiefs to review recent cases of drugs being trafficked out of Ghana's ports. Ten individuals, including four customs officers, are currently held in connection with the investigations. The task force has two weeks to present its recommendations. This action comes after recent drug seizures linked to shipments from Ghana, including methamphetamine in Australia and cocaine in France, highlighting Ghana's role as a transit point for narcotics.
