Nigeria's National Pension Commission extends employee pension verification deadline to December 31, 2026

The National Pension Commission (PenCom) of Nigeria has extended the deadline for the mandatory One-Time Online Verification and Enrolment Exercise for eligible Federal Government employees to December 31, 2026. The exercise, which began in February 2026, was initially scheduled to end on July 31, 2026. As of July, only 31,099 of an estimated 150,000 eligible employees had completed enrolment. The exercise is part of efforts to determine and settle pension liabilities inherited from the Defined Benefit Scheme, which preceded the Contributory Pension Scheme introduced in 2004. PenCom urged eligible employees to complete the process before the new deadline.
