North Macedonia's Prime Minister Mickoski Says EU Meeting Encouraging but Rejects Constitutional Change Demand
North Macedonia's Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said on Saturday that his meeting with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in Skopje was friendly and useful, but he was not satisfied with her message that constitutional changes are on the table. He welcomed her praise for his government's reforms and the idea of gradual EU integration. Following her advice, Skopje has requested a bilateral meeting with Bulgaria's foreign minister, which Mickoski hopes will not be rejected. The dispute over constitutional changes continues to block North Macedonia's EU accession talks.
