Iran insists Oman agreement does not reopen Ormuz road

Iran announced an agreement with Oman on safe navigation routes in the Ormuz region on September 13, 2026. Foreign Minister Abbas Arakchi stated that this agreement does not imply the reopening of the Ormuz road, which is contingent on the U.S. fulfilling commitments from a peace memorandum signed in June. The meeting included representatives from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, the UAE, and Iraq, while Bahrain withdrew due to security issues.
