Nigeria approves modernisation of four seaports in the South-South region

The Federal Government of Nigeria has approved the modernisation and upgrade of four seaports in the South-South region: Onne, Rivers, Delta, and Calabar. The announcement was made by the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Dr. Adegboyega Oyetola, on Sunday. This move is part of a broader strategy to expand Nigeria's maritime infrastructure and strengthen its position as a regional trade hub. The upgrade follows earlier approval for Apapa and Tin Can Island ports in Lagos. The government also plans to develop new deep seaports across the country to further boost economic growth and job creation.
