Men with heart disease face increased cancer risks, study finds

A long-term study in the UK found that men with heart disease are at a higher risk of developing and dying from cancer. The research, which analyzed data from 22,000 individuals over 25 years, revealed that the lifetime cancer risk for men with cardiovascular disease is 17.3%, compared to 12.8% for women. Key risk factors identified include smoking, obesity, and excessive alcohol consumption, particularly affecting lung and oesophageal cancers. The findings highlight the need for improved cancer prevention strategies in patients with heart disease.
