Saudi Arabia's East-West oil pipeline halted again after attack on Khurais pumping station
Saudi Arabia's East-West oil pipeline was halted again after a fresh attack on a pumping station in Khurais, east of Riyadh, according to a source in the kingdom's energy sector. The attack occurred on Sunday, a day after Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen claimed responsibility for targeting Saudi Aramco sites, including infrastructure in Khurais. The pipeline, which runs about 1,200 kilometers from eastern oil fields to the Red Sea terminal at Yanbu, has been targeted multiple times since the Middle East conflict began. Last month, it was shut for 11 days after attacks originating from Iraq. The pipeline is crucial for Saudi oil exports since Iran blockaded the Strait of Hormuz.
