Danish People's Party leader Morten Messerschmidt welcomes Denmark-Greenland-US agreement after earlier warnings

In Denmark, Morten Messerschmidt, leader of the Danish People's Party, said he hopes the new agreement between Denmark, Greenland, and the United States will close a dark chapter in relations. He spoke at his party's annual meeting in Roskilde on Saturday, after being briefed by Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen. The agreement was signed in New York on Tuesday. Messerschmidt had previously warned against submitting to threats. Other parties, including the Social Democrats and Moderates, criticized his earlier stance and praised the diplomatic success.
