Refereeing body Pro Ref admits Manchester City goal against Manchester United should have been disallowed
In the Manchester derby at Old Trafford, Manchester City beat Manchester United 1-0 with a goal from Erling Haaland. The goal was allowed despite an offside infringement by City's Enzo Fernandez. Pro Ref, the refereeing body, apologized to United, admitting the goal should have been disallowed. VAR officials were not selected for the next round of matches. Manchester United's head coach, Michael Carrick, said he still has faith in VAR but noted the apology doesn't mean much. The Premier League described the error as significant in a letter to clubs.
