German police arrested a 24-year-old Iraqi man on Thursday for allegedly planning an attack on a church in Bremen. The man, detained in Brandenburg, supported the ideology of Islamic State and had acquired a firearm. He planned the attack with another person since spring 2025. He was brought before a judge and ordered into custody. The arrest comes after a July attack in Berlin and new government measures against terrorism.
