Brazil requires official photo ID for voting in 2026 general elections

In Brazil, over 158 million voters are expected to participate in the 2026 general elections on October 4. To vote, they must present an official photo ID at one of 499,000 polling stations. Accepted documents include the e-Título app with photo, national identity card, social identity card, passport, professional council card, military reservist certificate, and physical work card. Expired documents are valid if they allow identification. Birth and marriage certificates are not accepted. Voters do not need their voter registration card.
