California gubernatorial candidate Xavier Becerra says Trump made cost of living worse in every state

In a CNN interview, California Democratic gubernatorial nominee Xavier Becerra said that while California is expensive, every state is expensive, and he blamed President Donald Trump for making the cost of living worse through tariffs and the war with Iran. He cited higher gas, grocery, and housing costs. A recent AP-NORC poll found that 82% of U.S. adults disapprove of Trump's handling of the cost of living, higher than George W. Bush's disapproval on the Iraq War. The issue is expected to be a major factor in the 2026 midterm elections.
