Christa Pike survives two lethal injections during execution attempt in Tennessee

In Tennessee, United States, the execution of Christa Pike, a 50-year-old woman convicted of murder, failed on September 30, 2026. After receiving two lethal injections, Pike was still alive and snoring, according to her lawyers. The state halted the execution and ordered her transport to a hospital. This was the first scheduled execution of a woman in Tennessee in over 200 years. Pike was sentenced to death in 1996 for the murder of a 19-year-old in 1995.
