Global industrial robot stock hits 5 million as humanoid sales remain small

The International Federation of Robotics reported that the global operational stock of industrial robots reached 5.08 million units in 2025, a 9% increase, with China leading installations. In Europe, the EU's stock passed 700,000, but new installations fell 11%. Humanoid robot sales were minimal, with only about 7,000 units sold, many for AI training. Boston Dynamics shelved a stock listing, and Chinese regulators slowed humanoid IPOs. German suppliers like Schaeffler are developing components for humanoids, but the market remains small compared to traditional industrial robots.
