Turkey launches Antalya Pledge on Artificial Intelligence to align AI infrastructure with climate goals

On September 21, 2026, Turkey launched the Antalya Pledge on Artificial Intelligence at the UN General Assembly in New York. The pledge aims to address AI's growing energy demand by aligning AI infrastructure with global climate goals. It is being developed with the UN's International Telecommunication Union, and a draft will be shared before COP31, which Turkey will host in Antalya in November. Turkey also launched the 35x35 initiative to increase electricity's share of final energy consumption to 35% by 2035, focusing on electrifying buildings, transport, and industry. The initiatives aim to encourage clean power, storage, and grid modernization.
