Gaza government says 262 journalists killed in Israeli attacks since October 2023

On September 26, 2026, the Gaza government's media office reported that Israeli attacks since October 2023 have killed 262 journalists and injured over 433. Among the dead, 26 were women, and 28 media activists also died. Israel has detained 50 journalists, with 23 still held and 3 missing. The media sector has suffered over 800 million dollars in damage, and 143 outlets have had their buildings destroyed or damaged. The announcement was made on the International Day of Solidarity with Palestinian Journalists.
