Peruvian President Keiko Fujimori has asked the United States to reevaluate tariffs on Peruvian exports. She made the request during a private meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who took note but said the issue was not in his portfolio. Fujimori hopes the matter will be addressed during her visit to New York for the UN General Assembly in September 2026. She also discussed Peru's potential entry into the American Scout program and thanked the U.S. for sending the hospital ship Comfort to assist with potential El Niño effects.
