Malaysia's IHH Healthcare appeals Tokyo court ruling rejecting its damages claim against Daiichi Sankyo

On September 24, 2026, Malaysia's IHH Healthcare announced that its subsidiary, Northern TK Venture (NTK), has appealed a Tokyo court's dismissal of its damages claim against Daiichi Sankyo. The claim, filed in May 2025, sought up to 109.3 billion Indian rupees (US$1.14 billion) for losses from delays in acquiring a stake in India's Fortis Healthcare. The Tokyo court dismissed the claim on September 10, 2026, and ordered NTK to bear litigation costs. IHH also said it plans to increase its stake in Fortis to 51% over the next three to five years.
