Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire commission 37 new boundary pillars to mark shared land border

Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire have jointly commissioned 37 newly constructed international boundary pillars, marking the completion of Phase 1 of their land boundary reaffirmation exercise. The project, funded by GIZ and the African Union Border Programme, covered 150 kilometers of the border. Ceremonies were held at New Town in Ghana and Diby in Côte d’Ivoire. The pillars include a Terminus Pillar, main, intermediate, and border crossing pillars. Phase 2, covering 400 kilometers, will be supervised by Côte d’Ivoire’s National Boundary Commission and is expected to begin later this year.
