Trump doubles down on data centers as voters revolt
In the United States, President Donald Trump has strongly defended AI data centers, saying he would "absolutely" want one in his community because of the enormous jobs and tax revenue. His comments come as data centers have become a major liability in midterm races, with candidates from both parties distancing themselves due to voter anger over their consumption of land, electricity, and water. A new poll shows 75% of Americans oppose a data center near their home. The National Republican Senatorial Committee warned that Ohio Senator Jon Husted is vulnerable because of the issue, and politicians across the country may avoid future data center projects if he loses.
