Ciryl Gane has been elevated to undisputed UFC heavyweight champion after Tom Aspinall vacated the title due to an eye injury. The injury was caused by Gane's eye pokes in their October fight, which ended in a no-contest. Gane had won the interim belt in June by stopping Alex Pereira. UFC president Dana White initially said Gane would not be upgraded, but later the promotion clarified he had misspoken.
