Far East Orchard's UK joint venture buys London site for student housing

On September 24, 2026, Far East Orchard, a Singapore-listed property group, announced that its UK joint venture, Borough High Street Development, agreed to buy King's Place, a freehold property in London, for £60 million (US$79.3 million). The site will be developed into a 444-bed purpose-built student accommodation and an eight-unit key worker accommodation block, with completion expected in 2029. This is the third acquisition by the Far East UK Student Accommodation Development Fund (FESAD), which is managed by Far East Orchard. The fund now has developments in London, Manchester, and Glasgow, totaling 956 beds. Far East Orchard's overall student housing portfolio exceeds 60,000 beds. The company noted a structural supply imbalance in London's student accommodation market. A court proceeding regarding a right of light claim is ongoing but is not expected to have a material impact.
